Bulls officially sign BrewerBasketball Betting Lines07/19/2010 - Chicago, IL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Chicago Bulls announced the signing of free agent guard Ronnie Brewer on Monday. Terms of the contract were not released, but it was earlier reported to be for three years and $12.5 million. The Bulls moved quickly on Brewer after the Magic matched the team's offer sheet to J.J. Redick on Friday. "We're very happy to add a player of Ronnie's ability to our team. He brings great versatility on both ends of the floor and will be an excellent addition to our backcourt," said Bulls general manager Gar Forman. Brewer joins forward Carlos Boozer and guard Kyle Korver as members of the 2009-10 Jazz who will play for the Bulls this season. Brewer was actually traded to Memphis midway through last season, but played only five games for the Grizzlies before an injury sidelined him. In 58 games in 2009-10, Brewer averaged 8.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists. He averaged a career-best 13.7 points in 81 games for the Jazz in 2008-09 and has a career per-game points average of 10.3 in 271 contests.

Chicago Bears (+350) - The Bears are probably a bit of an overhyped team once again this year.No, we don't think it is plausible for QB Jay Cutler to have as bad of a season as he did last year, and we do think the additions of RB Chester Taylor and DE Julius Peppers are going to help immensely, but there's still something in the water in the Windy City that we aren't so sure about. Maybe Chicago finds its way to .500... but then again, maybe it doesn't. If Favre comes back, Cutler might be the worst quarterback in this division this year. Detroit Lions (+1500) - The Lions are probably once again going to be the whipping boys for the rest of the teams in the NFC North, but they aren't just going to roll over and die once again. There is some real talent amassing on this team offensively, as the combination of QB Matt Stafford, RB Jahvid Best, WR Calvin Johnson, and TE Brandon Pettigrew should put a bunch of points on the board if the offensive line can even remotely hold up. The questions really lie on defense, where it feels like DT Ndamukong Suh is going to be trying to stop opposing teams all by himself. This year should show some marked improvement in the Motor City. Plaxico Burress is gone and with him all the bad publicity surrounding the gun in the sweatpants incident, but can they replace him in the offense? Last season the Giants were a very reliable bet going 12-4 ATS. In the Giants' last 20 games against fellow teams from the NFC East; they are 13-7 ATS. Dallas is listed at +240 to win the division. Dallas went 9-7 SU and 7-9 ATS last season and with the amount of talent the Cowboys have, a similar performance won't do. The Cowboys have been atrocious against divisional rivals, going 6-14 ATS in their last 20. The Washington Redskins are longshots to win the division at +550.
