Dementieva among first-round winners in Madrid; Kuznetsova ousted

The only other seeded player in action Saturday was France's Marion Bartoli,

Oudin 6-3, 6-4; Alona Bondarenko of the Ukraine defeated Slovak Magdalena
Rybarikova 2-6, 6-1, 6-4; Germany's Andrea Petkovic rallied for a 6-7 (3-7),
6-1, 7-5 win over Italy's Sara Errani; and wild card Sybille Bammer of Austria
notched a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 victory against Kazakhstani challenger Yaroslava
Shvedova.
French Open runner-up Dinara Safina defeated U.S. Open runner-up Caroline
Wozniacki in last year's Madrid finale. Safina is seeded third, Wozniacki
second and American Serena Williams serves as the top seed here this week.
The French Open will get underway May 23 at Stade Roland Garros.
