Rockets aim to continue dominance over Wolves
Basketball Betting Lines
01/13/2010 -
(Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Houston Rockets will put a pair of streaks on the line
tonight, when they open a three-game homestand versus the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Toyota Center.
Houston will also welcome Miami and Milwaukee to town and has won seven in a
row as the host. It is also unbeaten in the past nine meetings with the
Timberwolves, who are winless in their previous six trips to Houston.
The Rockets, though, have dropped four of their last five games overall,
including Tuesday's 102-94 road loss to the Charlotte Bobcats. Trevor Ariza
led the Rockets with 19 points, while Luis Scola notched a double-double with
18 points and 14 rebounds. Aaron Brooks chipped in 11 points and six assists
for Houston, which fell to 10-13 as the guest as opposed to its 11-4 mark at
home.
"We started standing around and they got more aggressive," Houston coach Rick
Adelman said on the team's site. "They got some momentum going just like any
other team at home. We didn't respond to it and couldn't get any rhythm in the
second half."
Minnesota will continue a four-game road trip Wednesday night and has lost the
first two tests of the trek. In a 105-94 setback at Denver on Monday, Corey
Brewer had a team-high 25 points and Al Jefferson had 22 points and 15
rebounds in defeat.
Kevin Love added 20 and 14 boards for the Wolves, who have lost seven of their
last eight games overall and four straight on the road.
"We did a pretty good job, except we had trouble making shots," said
Timberwolves head coach Kurt Rambis. "Some of that can be accredited to how
aggressive and how physical the Nuggets play defense. But some of it's just
our guys' inability to make some shots."
Minnesota will also pay a visit to Memphis and is just 3-16 outside the Twin
Cities this season.
